New Friends Moving In
We have been gladly working with Hope Grows Farms for almost 2 years now. We have learned great things from Mark’s experiences and had fun working with the animals he fosters. We have built buildings, provided care for various rare bird breeds and spent time with Mark helping and learning from him with his historical projects. One of our favorite things to do is learn and spend time with his ducks, geese, rare chickens and Gus the donkey.
After weeks of preparation putting in the pasture shelter, repairing and expanding the fencing, two new equine arrived to wondrous applause. Pony Huckleberry and quarter horse Maple arrived last Thursday and quickly found peace and made friends in there new world. They made sure to run around the pasture, strut in front of there new neighbors and make friends with Mark’s two children, all in short order.
It is nice to watch animals like Huck and Maple move around a new place. They investigate everything and then once content with the fencing and housing roll around in the grass and prance about. Not unlike soldiers when they get to a new duty station. They too feel out the space, check out the barracks, the neighbors, check the rules and local limitations and then check into the sack ASAP. For there is never enough sack time when you are a Joe in the barracks. Some how all mammals seem follow a similar pattern. Enjoy your winter days and make sure to get enough sack time. Deven Little
